Fall is upon us. Leaves are beginning to change. There is a crisp chill to the morning and evening air. Animals are coming out of hiding and starting to prepare for the winter. These seasonal changes make the perfect time for an outdoor getaway with your loved ones. A wonderful place to experience all of the beauty this time of year offers is Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose.

Fossil Rim is home to dozens of different species of wildlife. From zebra, giraffe, emu, ostrich, fallow deer, oryx, wildebeest, kudu, cheetah, rhinoceros, and much more, visitors are sure to have the experience of a lifetime as they make their way through the park to observe the animals in their habitat.

According to their website Fossil Rim’s philosophy is that “all creatures have a right to exist; that the natural world has intrinsic value apart from human perceptions and needs; and that this right and this value deserve our deep respect. Modern culture, with its emphasis on economic and technological values, tends to threaten the quality and integrity of nature. Fossil Rim strives to provide a model and stimulus for alternative ways of experiencing and relating to animals and nature as a whole”.

Not only does Fossil Rim provide an environment for animals to thrive, they also provides opportunities for education, conservation, research, recreation, and professional training. In fact, there are several internship and education opportunities for today’s youth to come and educate themselves in many different areas of wildlife conservation.
