After spending some time working on ranches in New Mexico along with working as a certified E.M.T., Cash Byers finally made the decision to pursue his dream of being a full-time musician. Even though he knew absolutely no one in College Station, he decided to move there on New Years Day 2019. He said that if Robert Earl Keen and Lyle Lovett could get there start there, why couldn’t he! After finding a place to hang his hat it wasn’t long before Cash was making inroads with local venues and musicians. After being introduced local musician and band co-founder, Zach McNeill, Cash Byers & Big Valley were born.
As the band grew it wasn’t long before they were getting gigs outside of the College Station area. Their unique songwriting and music stylings stayed true to their Texas roots all the while adding their own personal sound and delivery. Fans were hooked. As bookings grew Cash knew they were on to something great. Cash always knew if he could get the attention of the audience, their music would do the rest. That is exactly what they are doing today.
In the past year they have been touring across Texas promoting their new EP, Small-Town, TX. They are also in the process of shooting a new music video that will be out to fans very soon. Cash and all the members of Big Valley are putting their all into their music. Band members are: Lead Guitarist and co-founder – Zach McNeill Fiddle – Chase Borne Keyboard – Sam Capo Steel Guitar – Sam “Rusty” Norris Bassist – Brian Lippman Drums – Chad Polnick
While still focusing on pursuing a full-time music career, Cash is keeping his word to his mother and grandmother that no matter what happened, he would finish his college degree. He is scheduled to begin his junior year this August at the University of North Texas in Denton. Unfortunately, his grandmother passed away in July of 2020, but Cash says the very first thing he will do after graduation in two years is take his diploma to his grandmother’s grave and show her that he is a man of his word.
Focus, determination, dedication and honor are just a few ways to describe Cash Byers. He takes the approach in life that if everyone would stay focused in their lives to follow their true purpose, not give up when it gets difficult and keep the determination to succeed, the world would be a much better place. Cash ended the interview by stating that “if everyone dedicated themselves completely to doing what they are put here to do, no matter what that is, there is no limit to what we all could accomplish together as a society”. True words spoken by a genuine artist. The future holds great things for Cash Byers & Big Valley. I highly recommend going to a live show. You absolutely will not be disappointed.
