If you are have never experienced all the Creation Evidence Museum has to offer then plan your next trip to Somervell County and experience a museum unlike any other you will visit. This museum has a vast display of numerous exhibits that directly support biblical creation.

The museum was founded in 1984 as a 501©3 by Director Carl Baugh. In 1990, Dr. Baugh was Co-Director of a research team (along with Dr. Don Shockey) searching for Noah’s Ark on Mt. Ararat in Turkey. He personally negotiated a 49-year lease of Mt. Ararat with the Turkish government during the administration of President Uzal. He led three scientific expeditions into the rainforests of Papua New Guinea in search of living pterodactyls; along with missionary Jim Blume, he is recognized by current living-pterosaur investigators as a pioneer in this research. He was the excavation director of sixteen dinosaurs, including Acrocanthosaurus in Texas and Diplodocus in Colorado.

His independent research involves the application of technology he has pioneered in biospheric science. This independent research includes hyperbaric pharmaceutical potentials in living plants and animals, energized water systems, energized systems for enhanced production of plants as food sources, energized systems for enhanced production of fishes, energized systems for enhanced production of livestock, and energized water recovery systems. Dr. Baugh has been invited as a guest lecturer at NASA headquarters in Greenbelt, Maryland as a result of his independent research on the world’s first hyperbaric biosphere.

With Dr. Baugh’s experience in searching for Noah’s Ark, he directed to construction of the 25’ (1/20 scale) replica of the Ark at the Creation Evidence Museum. He also holds a U.S. Patent on the gopher wood process. Visitors can look at the Ark for hours, looking in to every nook and cranny to see how the family lived along with the animals. This is your chance to see what the Ark actually looked like, how was the Ark ventilated, how did humans avoid the dangers of toxic or explosive gases from the animals, did the animals hibernate, how was the Ark illuminated and how they got fresh water.

Of course the museum is home to some nice dinosaur bones. The museum also hosts a Public Dinosaur Track Excavation one week in the summer. Just think….you might discover one of the many dinosaur tracks in the region. While you are there you can learn about the different layers of soil and what time periods they represent. There are leg bones and footprints of different dinosaurs that Dr. Baugh has uncovered in his digs. While this museum may be about Creation…you can discover some other amazing things inside and outside. Outside as you go in the entrance, there is a large petrified wood log. Petrified wood is a great find as it is but to find a log of this size is truly something to see. Once inside, you can explore a replica of the Gutenberg Printing Press. With replaceable/moveable wooden or later metal letters in 1436. Johannes Gutenberg was also responsible for the Gutenberg Bible. On September 30, 1452, the Gutenberg Bible was published becoming the first book to be published in volume.

Big changes are coming to the Creation Evidence museum in 2021. Through a generous grant provided by a single donor, Creation Evidence has recently broken ground on a new, state of the art research facility. The new additions will include a professional fossil preparation lab, as well as an archival wing for scholars to come view and conduct research comparing with their own discoveries.

In the new preparation lab visitors will be able to watch as specialists clean and remove rock and debris from around fossil bones while preparing them for display. There will also be monitors that will display what is seen through the microscopes used by the specialists. These monitors will show exactly how the removal of microscopic rock and material embedded from around the bone is meticulously conducted. The new microscopes are powerful enough to search for soft tissue in the bones. As well as analyze the interior of the bones. Once prepped the bones will be moved from the preparatory wing to the archival wing of the museum. Each bone will be catalogued and archived for others to conduct and compare research.

These new additions are creating a great deal of excitement and are expected to be completed by summer of 2021.
