Every eclipse requires three basic elements. A star, a planet that orbits the star, and a moon that orbits the planet. During this perfectly choreographed dance, two things can happen to cause the marvel known as an eclipse. The moon can perfectly align totally or partially between the planet and the star called a solar eclipse or the planet can perfectly align totally or partially between the moon and the star causing a lunar eclipse. As far back as mankind can mathematically calculate, an eclipse of a star or moon that can be seen from the surface of a planet is a phenomenon unique to Earth, our moon, and our star the sun.
“Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night: and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years” (Genesis 1:14) The order of the universe was designed and set in stone on the fourth day of creation by God, it never changes. This fact allows us to accurately calculate the date, time, length, location, position, and many other amazing things about every eclipse event for Earth in the past or future. There have been thousands of eclipses recorded on planet Earth throughout history but from any point on our planet, a person only has a 1% chance of seeing a total solar or lunar eclipse in their lifetime.
“The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord” (Joel 2:31) It is recorded by NASA there was a partial “blood moon” lunar eclipse that occurred on the evening of April 3, 33 AD. A blood moon occurs when the sun's light passes through the Earth’s atmosphere during a lunar eclipse causing the moon to appear dark red as it rises in the evening sky. This eclipse could be seen in Jerusalem, Israel at the exact moment the sun set on their horizon and lasted a total of 333 minutes worldwide.
It is accepted by many Christians that the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ was on Good Friday, April 3, 33 AD in the city of Jerusalem. In the book of Acts, the Apostle Peter quoted the prophet Joel at Pentecost after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Based on NASA’s calculations of the lunar event in the spring of 33 AD, it is thought that Peter’s sermon was implying the prophecy of Joel from the past was fulfilled by this miraculous “sign” of the blood moon eclipse in the heavens they must have witnessed that amazing night. There are several examples throughout the Bible of celestial beings used as a sign from the Lord to the Israelites as well as Gentiles just as described in the book of Genesis. The reigning theory is the moon (a lunar eclipse) is used for signs to the nation of Israel and the sun (a solar eclipse) is used for signs to Gentile nations.
“He placed all the stars exactly where they need to be and calls them all by name” (Psalm 147) Seven years ago on Monday, August 21st, 2017, the sky darkened in Carbondale, Illinois, and their neighboring states during a total solar eclipse event. According to NASA the position of the Earth, sun, and moon all aligned so to anyone in the horizontal 70-mile-wide path of totality from Oregon to South Carolina the moon covered the light of the sun perfectly. Thrillingly and exceedingly rare, we can expect to see the same kind of eclipse event in the heart of the United States again on Monday, April 8th of this year, 2024. In this solar spectacle, NASA tells us the path of totality will run vertically from Texas to Maine. Again, this path will run through Carbondale, Illinois creating an X over the U.S. when combined with the solar eclipse event from seven years ago in 2017. If the theory of many past and present scholars is accurate, Christians worldwide can say that God is still using celestial beings to send His believers signs from the heavens in this century.

The word “eclipse” comes from the Greek word ekleipsis and it cannot be found in the Bible. Scholars can only theorize the meaning of the events described in scripture by Joel’s prophecy and in turn Peter’s sermon. However, there are also many instances where the conclusion of scripture is literal and easily interpreted by anyone. The same can be said for the world of modern science. Any idea starts with a theory or hypothesis and ends with a conclusion, the idea could be definitively proven, or it remains just a theory. Millions of people believe the Bible and modern science are two completely different ways of thinking about the events of the universe and how it came into existence. But what if they are not separate concepts? Dr. Carl Baugh and his dedicated team at The Creation Evidence Museum believe they are two sides of the same coin, and the universal order of things was designed by our Creator.
The Creation Evidence Museum of Glen Rose, TX was founded in 1984 by Director Carl Baugh to research evidence and display exhibits that support the Biblical creation. The museum provides scientific evidence for creation to thousands of people each year. Every year, new artifacts and documents are added to the museum’s collection through the generosity of individuals. The Creation Evidence Museum of Texas is a 501(c)3 non-profit educational museum. They are funded solely by contributions from individuals or groups wishing to see the truth of creation made known. In 1990, Dr. Baugh was Co-Director of a research team (along with Dr. Don Shockey) searching for Noah’s Ark on Mt. Ararat in Turkey. He negotiated a 49-year lease of Mt. Ararat with the Turkish government during the administration of President Uzal. He led three scientific expeditions into the rainforests of Papua New Guinea in search of living pterodactyls; along with missionary Jim Blume, he is recognized by current living-pterosaur investigators as a pioneer in this research. He was the excavation director of sixteen dinosaurs, including Acrocanthosaurus in Texas and Diplodocus in Colorado. The museum in Glen Rose hosts a yearly Public Dinosaur Track Excavation one week in the summer along with many other learning experiences throughout the year. Currently, Dr. Baugh’s research involves the application of technology he has pioneered in biospheric science to create a pre-flood atmosphere. This independent research includes hyperbaric pharmaceutical potentials in living plants and animals, energized water systems, energized systems for enhanced production of plants as food sources, energized systems for enhanced production of fish, energized systems for enhanced livestock production, and energized water recovery systems. Dr. Baugh has been invited as a guest lecturer at NASA headquarters in Greenbelt, Maryland because of his independent research on the world’s first hyperbaric biosphere.
“But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And I will show you still a more excellent way” (1 Corinthians 12:31) Dr. Carl Baugh has dedicated most of his adult life to fulfilling the Great Commission and continues to be a student of the Lord. His missionary work and research calls him all over the globe every year. Those blessed to hear him teach or have worked closely with him can attest to his gentle nature and pure heart. The ability to listen to those around him and bestow wisdom only a man with his experience can is a priceless gift he shares with the world. Our family and children at Texas Life Publications have found invaluable guidance and friendship in Dr. Baugh. He gives a lecture at the museum in Glen Rose on the first Saturday of each month.
